Laura Downer and Michael Makowski (AYF 17-18, both UW-Madison) are the producers of “Fernweh and Home”, a podcast project to strengthen the German-American relationship.

The name of the project is “Fernweh and Home: Stories of German-American Heritage in Southern Wisconsin” and its focus is the importance of the German-American relationship at a local level. Together, Laura and Michael travel southern Wisconsin, conducting interviews and sharing the stories of this transatlantic relationship. You can find the podcast episodes on Soundcloud.

The Project is funded and promoted by the German Federal Foreign Office as part of the “Deutschlandjahr” initiative #wunderbartogether with additional support from the Carl-Schurz-Haus/Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institut (DAI) Freiburg e.V.
