Alumni Club Fundraiser – Thank You

Herzlichen Dank! ~ Emergency Fundraiser Continues

Dear JYF and AYF Alumni, dear Friends of the Academic Year in Freiburg,

We know these past two months have been a major stress test for everyone on a personal level. But in the midst of this uncertainty, our international community of AYF alumni has collectively raised more than $11,000 for students facing immediate financial crisis.

Your generosity has made an immediate impact. Every cent of that $11,000 has already been disbursed between ten 2019-20 AYF students who need the money to pay for basic living expenses like rent, health care, tuition, and groceries. The AYFAA and AYF Alumni & Friends have also added money from their limited operating funds to support this mission.

Thank you so very much for selflessly giving to students at risk of dropping out of university, living without affordable access to healthcare, and potentially facing eviction during a pandemic. Without your gift, we could not have met the students’ urgent needs.

On behalf of everyone on the AYFAA, the Alumni & Friends board, the program directors, and each aid recipient, thank you again; we are so very grateful for your contribution!

AYFAA and AYF Alumni & Friends directors met with Ulli on March 15th to discuss how best to support AYF 19-20 students experiencing financial crisis.

Just as we had distributed seven emergency grants to students based on their needs, we received three additional requests for aid from students who were nervous to ask for help. The Alumni Club Boards approved the use of general operation funds to immediately aid these students.

Our goal now is to raise as much as we can, to give as generously as we can, for future student needs because we anticipate more requests for support this summer as bills become due.

Will you please help us reach our goal by giving to the AYF Alumni Emergency Fund?

Please give what you can ($5, $50, $500, or $5,000) to support our fellow AYFers now.  Every donation makes a difference!

Although we may be socially distant, our solidarity is in our shared memories and love of studying in Freiburg. 2019-20 AYFers had their time in Freiburg cut short, but your generosity means that at least they will not face crushing financial hardship. Thank you again so much for your generosity and compassion.

We are so grateful for any additional financial support you can offer now. To support 2019-20 AYF Students, please follow the links at the end of this message.

From all of us at the AYF Alumni Association and AYF Alumni & Friends, the US and German Chapters of the AYF Alumni Club, we are wishing you and your loved ones much health and safety in these trying times.

~ Alumni wishing to support the Club’s Fundraising Initiative in the United States will find details on the AYFAA Page.

~ Alumni living in Germany can make a donation through the German chapter of the AYF Alumni Club to ensure their contributions are tax deductible in Germany.

Your support means that Allison Libbe, a 2019-20 AYFer and emergency aid recipient, remains on track to graduate despite the additional tuition costs of studying during the summer. Thank you so much for supporting Allison on her academic path to graduation!
